These are the words she carried in her heart — the ones she whispered at fajr, the ones she pressed into our hands when we left her doorstep.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.
الْجَنَّةُ تَحْتَ أَقْدَامِ الْأُمَّهَاتِ
Paradise lies beneath the feet of mothers.
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهَا وَارْحَمْهَا
O Allah, forgive her and have mercy on her, pardon her, and grant her honourable lodging.
"Khana zaroor khaake jaana." — She would never let anyone leave her house without eating.
"Sabr karo, beta. Allah dekh raha hai." — Be patient, my child. Allah is watching.
